Hecate — The Black Mirror

An obsidian mirror, two rams’ heads, two burning flames and an ancient key. Four elements brought together in a single piece beneath the presence of Hecate, the goddess associated with crossroads, thresholds and the mysteries of the night.

The idea began with the black mirror. Its dark surface absorbs the light and seems to hold something beyond the image reflected upon it. From this starting point, I developed the rest of the design, shaping a composition in silver where every element carries its own symbolism.

The two rams’ heads flank the mirror like watchful guardians, evoking the untamed strength of the wild. On either side, two flames remain alight, their forms sculpted in silver. Beneath them, an ancient key introduces another mystery: which door does it open, and what lies beyond it?

Hecate inhabits the meeting of these symbols. She belongs to the crossroads, to the choices that transform us, and to those moments when we stop searching for answers outside ourselves and dare to look within.

I wanted this necklace to retain the character of an imagined ritual object, something that might have emerged from the pages of an old grimoire. A piece in silver and obsidian, created from my fascination with ancient witchcraft, its symbols and the stories each person may discover within them.

The mirror is the beginning. Hecate is the presence. The meaning is yours to discover.
